2016: Creators' Journeys


Overview of 2016's work sees....

... explorations as diverse as the artists and their genres: Contemporary, Afro-Caribbean, Break, & Modern dance;

... inspirations and creative processes: translating literature into dance, expressing contemporary emotions & themes within prescribed movement forms, reinterpreting archived material to evaluate and create new work, working from theme to pure movement.

The Choreographic Marathon 2016 included:

  • Toronto Area: senior and emerging choreographers and interpreters working through blocks towards freeing process

  • Toronto AO dramaturgy group: developing skills and understanding to support creative process through documentation, dramaturgy and creative support

  • Quebec-based artists researching transformation of learned genres into personal forms of expression

  • Specialists in “somatics ” and “social interactions” applying knowledge to processes of dance creation
