As part of a choreographic process this August with one of my favourite dance artists it is so clear that the online process devours energy from me as a creator.
Filling in the blanks - the way energy is perciptible in the studio, the way the ligth shifts on the body and face, the way sound and breath echo in space - this and so much more has to be filed in.
The camera is always missing something, with either the image of the dancing human being too big (with no head) or to small and unrecognizable. An anonymous outline.
In studio I am devoured by what is in front of me, and what can be on stage, and in possiblity.
On line, I'm imagining what is actually there, what is happening in real life.
It's this moment of trying to imagine what is actually there, that eats up energy.
